Procurement, tendering or contracts

Forming a partnership may well offer benefits and economies of scale for procurement and there are many issues to consider to ensure that, as a community waste partnership you ensure your procurement is as environmentally friendly as possible, uses local suppliers, is efficient and effective whilst complying with legal requirements and delivering to the requirements of each partner.

As a partnership you will also have increased buying power and will be able to negotiate better deals and have more influence over your suppliers, you will also be able to expand the business that you put towards your existing suppliers.

Community organisations may come together to form a partnership in order to tender for a contract. For many both working in a partnership between community waste organisations, particularly with new organisations, and working under contract or tendering may be a new activity and may only be possible through the formation of the partnership. Therefore, there will be many new considerations which will need to be addressed.

This section gives links to information on how to get the best from your procurement process, how to draw up and adhere to contracts, how to successfully tender for work as a community organisation partnership and the issues that need to be considered
