Advantages and opportunities

There are many reasons why a community waste organisation would decide to go into a partnership with a public sector organisation. For example: with the support of a local authority (perhaps in the form of a contractural agreement), a community organisation will be able to develop and deliver their services to a wider proportion of the population.

Successful partnership working between community and public sector organisations can provide many benefits for those involved such as:

  • pooling of resources
  • greater training and development
  • economy of scale
  • best practice
  • co-ordination of complimentary activities
  • more secure funding
  • efficiency savings
  • more effective services
  • greater market presence
  • meeting public sector bodies’ organisational priorities

This section gives links to information on the advantages and opportunities available to community organisations and public sector organisations working, or wishing to work in partnership.
