General help and advice

Often community waste groups have successfully provided local waste management services in an unofficial capacity for many years. However, in many cases, partnership with a private sector organisation can successfully develop and deliver these services to a wider percentage of the population.

Private and community sector partnerships can achieve the following benefits, both for the organisations involved and the local community:

  • pooling of resources
  • best practice examples
  • more secure joint funding
  • greater efficiency and effectiveness
  • enhanced/extended service levels
  • greater employment for those marginalised in the employment market

This section gives links to information on general help and advice for community groups and private sector organisations who are working, or are considering entering into a working partnership agreement.
